1932년 11월 15일, 영국의 엡슴에서 태어난

배우이자 가수인 페튤라 클락은

BBC 방송국이 만들어낸 1940~60년대의 세계적인 스타...

 

그녀는 9살 때 BBC 라디오의 오디션을 거쳐

연예계에 입문했고

11살 때부터는 자신의 TV 쇼 프로그램인

Pet's Parlous를 진행하기도 했지요.

 

배우로 활동을 시작한 페튤라 클락은

1944년부터 1960년대까지

20여 편의 영화에 출연했는데

‘Finian's Rainbow’나 ‘Goodbye Mr. Chips’처럼

우리에게도 잘 알려진 영화에서 주인공으로 출연했습니다.

 

영국 음악 차트 역사 상 가장 상업적으로 성공한 그녀는

1964년, Downtown이라는 곡으로 그래미상을 수상했고

영국 여가수로는 최초로 미국 팝 차드 1위를 한 가수이지요.
